How to use this worksheet

  1. Point to the top circle: this is the whole. The two lower circles are its parts.
  2. Use the given numbers to work out the value of the circle marked with a question mark.
  3. Write the missing number and check that the two parts add up to the whole.

Choose your practice

Choose bonds within 5, bonds within 10, or mixed missing numbers. In mixed practice, the missing number can be a whole or either part.

Use small objects to make the whole, then split them into two groups to illustrate the diagram.

Changing the practice level creates a fresh version. For another sheet at the same level, use the New practice sheet button. Save the settings link or add the sheet to a pack to keep that version. Tracing keeps the same correct forms and varies their arrangement or path lengths.

Age guidance is approximate. Print on A4 or US Letter paper. The instructor key follows the same worksheet options and paper size.
