Length measurement worksheets
Count equal blocks to measure a pencil, or find the difference between two lengths. Choose worksheet options below.
How to use this worksheet
- Point to the start and tip of the pencil. The blocks begin and end at those same places.
- Touch each equal block once and count the total. Each block represents one unit, regardless of paper size.
- Write the number of units. In comparison practice, count both lengths and find how many units longer one is.
Choose your practice
Measure lengths of 1–5 units, measure lengths of 6–10 units, or compare two pencils and find the difference. Choose black outlines or pre-coloured pencils; measurement blocks stay white.
These are non-standard units, not centimetres or inches. Count the printed blocks instead of using a ruler. Model touching each block once before writing.
Changing the practice level creates a fresh version. For another sheet at the same level, use the New practice sheet button. Save the settings link or add the sheet to a pack to keep that version. Tracing keeps the same correct forms and varies their arrangement or path lengths.
Age guidance is approximate. Print on A4 or US Letter paper. Choose outlines to save ink or pre-coloured pictures to start the activity without colouring. The instructor key follows the same worksheet options and paper size.
