How to use this worksheet

  1. Say the printed number together. Point to the five spaces in the top row.
  2. Draw one dot in each space, filling the top row before the bottom row. In make-ten practice, keep the given dots and fill the empty spaces.
  3. Count the completed frame. In make-ten practice, write how many new dots were added.

Choose your practice

Show all five quantities from 1–5 or 6–10, or complete five partially filled frames to make ten. New practice sheet changes the order or starting quantities; the preview, PDF and key keep the same version.

Use counters on the printed frame first if drawing is difficult. Keep one counter or dot per space.

Changing the practice level creates a fresh version. For another sheet at the same level, use the New practice sheet button. Save the settings link or add the sheet to a pack to keep that version. Tracing keeps the same correct forms and varies their arrangement or path lengths.

Age guidance is approximate. Print on A4 or US Letter paper. The instructor key follows the same worksheet options and paper size.
